Zev Vel is a 17 year old director of photography based in Woodstock, NY. He has worked on a wide variety of film sets including music videos, documentaries, feature films, and live performances. He has worked as a director of photography, key grip, gaffer, and editor.

Film Experience
Zev's work on short films, includes: Persephone (key grip/gaffer); Blondie's Mother music video (camera team); and Celebration of the Life of Dick Kniss (bassist for Peter Paul & Mary) (DP, editor). Zev's feature film experience includes In Our Nature (G&E Intern) which premiered at SXSW in 2012 starring John Slattery (Mad Men) and Jena Malone (Hunger Games: Catching Fire). Other professional projects, include films for the Tonner Doll Company, MasterCard Headquarters in New York and Ulster Tourism.
Zev's short documentary, The Symbol of Peace (director, DP, editor) which was accepted and premiered at the Wayne State University: MovingMedia Film Festival in June 2012 and was then screened at the Peace River Film Festival in September 2012, the Woodstock Film Festival in October 2012 and the Austin Film Festival in October 2012.
As a director of photography, Zev has expertise in handling professional gear. He is also experienced with post production work as an editor and text animator using Final Cut Pro 7, Adobe CS6 and other products.
Photography
In addition to filmmaking, Zev's passion for the natural beauty of the world around him is apparent in his minimal editing approach in photography. His still images include portraits, nature photographs, urban photography, and photojournalism. Zev has worked as a photographer in proffesional settings including weddings and film sets.
Zev's photography has appeared in a jurried art show in Ithaca, NY and in various publications including two full page pieces in Qvest (51), The Goodlife Youth Journal, and The Woodstock Day School Battering Ram (spring 2012).
His photography has been featured on numerous websites and received mentions as a finalist in various competitions.
